If you are asking yourself this question, it is unlikely that you will know the answer until you have had the opportunity to talk to people involved in this work, observe them at work and perhaps have a go yourself. There is no
such thing as a typical workplace chaplain any more than there is a typical person at work. However, all chaplains share the following characteristics:
1. time and willingness to listen to others
2. sensitivity to the pressures and concerns of people at work
3. concern for the wellbeing of all, any faith or none.
Workplace chaplains can play a significant part in supporting people at work in ways that enhance both their life and their work. They can also make a positive contribution to the workplace climate, becoming a
symbol of care;
of particular value in challenging times. |
